Strong Skwal blown in by Shark

French-born helmet specialist Shark has launched a new lid which, whilst sitting towards the bottom of the manufacturer’s range, nonetheless combines style with practicality and protection.

With both dark visor and open-faced variants available, the Skwal is for both real-world and fashionably elegant riding!

Shark has a new entry level helmet.

This one is called the Skwal Cup and it takes its design inspiration from the company’s track day and racer favourites, the Aeron GP.

It has all the style we’ve come to expect from the French company.

This includes a couple of very cool designs, with Scott Redding and Johann Zarco replicas being available, as well as a rear spoiler.

As we now know, a spoiler is essential if you wish to avoid being outcast from your part of the motorcycling community.

Visor at the double

The Skwal Cup comes with a drop-down dark visor, one of the ones that is housed internally and can be operated with the left hand.

The outer one is clear, meets a hi-definition optical class one standard and comes with a pinlock anti-mist insert.

Also coming as standard, it has a Double D strap closer so it’s a much more secure fit.

Skwal helmetSome youthful types designed the Skwal with the help of Computational Fluid Dynamics.

Using this process resulted in the addition of the spoiler, as well as a set of active air vents.

By stabilising the helmet and managing the downforce, this helps the rider avoid looking like a bobble-headed motorcyclist at any sort of decent speed

It can be fitted with a comms kit. Sena do the honours in conjunction with Shark and it works via either Mesh or Bluetooth.

The interior is lined with Alvotech Sanitized suede.

This makes for a soft, comfortable experience.

It’s also antibacterial which makes it much more pleasant to put your head into on the day after you came home all sweaty and such.

Even the cheek pads can be taken out for a wash. Glasses fit nicely and it comes in sizes all the way from extra small to double extra-large.

Open plan

Skwal helmetThere is also an open face version called the Skwal Jet Cup.

This exists because Paris has a huge fleet of scooters, and they work very well with open lids.

Open face helmets are necessary in Paris because, while not impossible, smoking a Gauloise as one is riding along wearing a conventional full face helmet is quite difficult.

The same goes for spitting out gum.

Meanwhile the non-smokingParisian riders are all so incredibly beautiful – both the male and female ones – that their rugged /gorgeous faces deserve not to be hidden behind a black visor.

Prices have yet to be confirmed.
