Mega day diary date!

Spring has sprung so it’s time to refresh the riding wardrobe.

If you’re looking for inspiration on how to be fashionably well protected this season, Megabikes’ Open Day is a great place to start, says Paul Browne.

 

My favourite motorcycle shop, Megabikes, is having an open day on the 25^th of this month. It’s still April? Really?

The shindig has now turned into a bi-annual event, with this one being the spring one. There’ll be another in August.

Unlike some other stores’ open days where the doors are opened for an event that’s pretty much business as usual, the Megabikes one is always worth showing up for. I’ve been at the last few and  always had a great day.

Range roving

The store has a huge range of clothing. There’s so much kit that it’s actually disturbing!

Alpinestars is the big brand. The range includes everything from a pair of socks to a premium race suit, all-weather clothing, gloves, boots and airbag vests. All of this stuff will be ‘priced accordingly’.

Speaking of airbag vests, if you don’t have one then go and get one!

The Tech 5 jacket starts from as little as €500 and these things are something that you can’t afford not to buy, they’re something that you can’t afford to do without.

Lifting the lids

While there are a lot of different helmets in store the two big brands are, as always, Shoei and Arai.

There’s a big stock of them on the shelves as well as a professional fitting service. The team are well trained by both factories.

If you already own one you can book it in for a full service.  

Meanwhile there will be a number of experts on hand from the distributors to meet and advise on a range of stuff from clothing to security and everything in-between.

There will also be a couple of guests from the racing world to catch up with.

Bags more

Goodie bags will be dished out to everyone in the audience until they all run out.

One of the big features of the day is that the team run test rides on a huge fleet of new and used bikes all day.
