Lots to see, more to do at Motorcycle Live

What is the UK’s  biggest motorcycle show, Motorcycle Live, opens this weekend at the NEC in Birmingham.

This year the organisers have shaken things up in a significant way, with it now being more of an event more than just a show.

There will be a whole lot to see – including plenty of fresh metal – but also a whole lot to do.

And we’re looking forward to doing some of them.

Champions, experts and challenges

Jamie Whitham is back and talking to some of the fastest riders in the paddock over the entire show.

Suzuki is also set to celebrate the 20th anniversary of John Reynolds’ 2004 BSB Superbike series victory, with the great man (pictured left) also appearing over both weekends of the show.

Grace Webb, a woman with more than a solid grounding in the automotive field, will be hosting the Expert Lab where she’ll be talking to the brighter kids in class about all the latest tech. A selection of ‘how to’ presentations are also on the agenda.

In Hall 3a you’ll find a BSB Sim Racing Challenge which will see visitors race each other around a virtual Donington. There will, of course, prizes for the fastest laps.

Getting out on a bike is part of the fun. From traditional machines to electric, on road and off, there will even be bikes for children to try and a rolling road for those who have yet to ride a bike.

Live and dangerous

Motorcycle LiveEntertainment will be the newly added big attraction this year.

Yamaha is sponsoring Live Lounge AMPLIFIED which, as the name suggests, will showcase live music from a host of up-and-coming performers and bands.

These include Audio Chaff, featuring Tom Barnell from The Voice , purveyors of blues, soul and rock ‘n’ roll, the Jono Wright Band and award-winning country outfit Chasing Twisters.

Also on display will be the Arenacross FMX team in addition to a live stunt show.

Motorcycle Live runs from this Saturday, the 16th of November until the 24th.

Getting there couldn’t be easier with up to four flights a day from Dublin and once you’ve landed in Birmingham it’s just a free and fast – 90 seconds! – rail ride to the show. Tickets and more details are available from www.motorcyclelive.co.uk.
