As a specialist motorcycle insurance broker, we very much encourage you to invest in protective gear.Knox have taken motorcycle kit and made it look casual.
They’ve also changed the way we look at, and wear, kit.
I wouldn’t have a pair of functioning hands if it wasn’t for the scaphoid protection system on their Handroid gloves
But making bike gear cool looking enough to wear to a hipster café is a very clever trick indeed.
For a number of years they’ve had a jacket called the Dual Pro.
Now it’s been completely re-styled with a whole lot of new features.
It’s also got a new name; Modra.
Someone’s hydrophobia has moved up a peg or two and as a result the new jacket is entirely waterproof.
It’s a seam sealed 4-in-1 jacket with a 20K membrane and is even CE approved for abrasion.
Additionally it still slides on over any of the company’s armoured shirts.
It’s usability is exceptional. You can wear the jacket over a separate thermal layer and the under armour. Or you can wear the same without the thermal layer or without the under armour.
The thermal layer can be worn over the armour as well as being worn without sleeves.
All of it can be worn as one piece only or in different combinations depending on the riding conditions.
Also making it look really good, particularly in an urban environment, is the detachable hood. It’s not just a fashion item, it actually works, as does the wicking mesh that can be worn under the helmet and acts as a snood of sorts.
The design shows how clever PPE can be made stylish and easy to wear.
Details such as the patterns on the inner liner, the reflective panels on the outer as well as the drawstring closer on the neck which includes a ‘lift and lock’ system as do the adjustable cuffs. There’s even a drawcord on the hem of the jacket.
They’re available in black or ‘petrol’ blue with specific cuts for women and men.
Modra trousers are also available.
These have the armour fitted in both the knees and hips, but are still light enough to wear on that coffee date while also being fully waterproof.
There are reflective prints ‘hidden’ in the fabric, waterproof zips on the pockets, an adjustable waistband (after all that café does sell the very best of cakes), and they come with a fleece lining.
They’re available in any colour you want, as long as that colour is black.
The Modra jacket and pants are available in all the usual sizes from MotoKingdom and can be posted to your address.
Full length mirror not included.
