Husqvarna adds E-Pilen Concept to urban battery

He likes to think he’s switched on to the latest bike innovations and in this week focusing on Husqvarna’s electric E-Pilen Concept, Paul Browne is definitely plugged in to current thinking.

The team from CCM, Dublin’s favourite dirt bike shop, seem to have chosen just the right time to take on the street legal Husqvarna range.

Just as we were getting used to the idea of them supplying some of the tastiest smaller capacity motorcycles on the market, the parent company go and announce something very exciting indeed.

They’ve only gone and put several zero emissions options into development for us lucky urban riders.

Zero sum

Yes indeed, the developers at Husqvarna Motorcycles are looking forward into the future with a zero-emissions product range.

This is to broaden the brand’s appeal to existing riders as well as a whole new audience.

The move inspired by the pioneering design of the Vitpilen and Svartpilen, both successful conventionally-powered models.

Vision on

Now the brand is offering what can only be described as, a tantalising vision of what its future move into electric urban mobility will look like,  with this rather wonderful E-Pilen Concept.

The current Husqvarna Motorcycles street range is so very European in both the way it looks and feels. It’s already well regarded for being progressive, smart, dynamic and purely design-oriented.

Thankfully these values will continue to be hallmarks of the newly teased E-mobility line.

Certainly the E-Pilen Concept is a clear statement of that intent.

Range rover

With a power output of 8 kW and a claimed range of 100 km, the new machine has clearly been developed with the urban commuter, as well as the leisure rider, in mind.

This is all about having a range that maximises the time between battery charges.

The Austrian company developed the new concept while keeping an open approach to all battery opportunities.

In charge

There are parallel advantages of both fixed and swappable solutions, so the E-Pilen Concept features both.

This allows the depleted power pack to be exchanged for a fully charged one.

This clever thinking should extend the appeal and utility of electric motorcycles to those considering foregoing the fossil fuel.

Husqvarna have always aimed to develop new products which will be accessible to the broadest possible spectrum of riders.

Es are good

The idea behind this E-mobility range is that it will retain and continue both the riding pleasure and the riding dynamics refined through the long history and deep experience of the brand.

Now in support of the E-mobility initiative, the company will strategically expanded its dealer presence in urban and metropolitan areas across Europe.

They’ve already done this in here with CCM, a  company based in West Dublin’s ‘Motorcycle Store Belt’!

The development of this exciting E-mobility range is already well-advanced and when further information is released in the near future we’ll be sure to let you know.

In the meantime the rest of the road, and offroad, range are available at CCM. Give Gavin or any of the team a call on 01 4526 170 and make an appointment to drop by.
