08 November 2019
Motorcycle Live 2019 takes place at the NEC, Birmingham, from the 16th to the 24th of this month.
The annual event – the UK’s biggest bike show – offers us motorcycle enthusiasts the chance to have the perfect day out. For Irish enthusiasts visiting the UK for the show, there’s also a top ticket deal.
Production of a a non-GB passport and travel documentation for the day of your visit will mean admission will set you back just ST£10. The standard gate price is ST£25.
Now that the trade supports the show there are a number of opportunities to get on two wheels for free. You don’t even need to bring any kit with you!
The ‘Try Ride’ event offers show visitors the chance to take their first step on two wheels. This consists of a free 20 minute taster session which takes place in a purpose-built area.
First timers can try either a 125cc scooter or motorcycle and learn the basics such as clutch control and gears in a safe and controlled area. To book email firstname.lastname@example.org.
Also for would-be riders there the chance to experience what it’s like to ride a bike without taking to the road. Both the BMW and Harley-Davidson will let you get behind the bars of a motorcycle and try it for size on a rolling road.
Now you can do so much more than just climb aboard the latest new metal unveiled by the world’s leading manufacturers.
You can also take to the open road on an amazing line-up of bikes by visiting the Test Ride Zone. This works particularly well for those of us who are flying in since thanks to Shoei, Sidi and Spada, you don’t even need to bring your own riding kit.
Fancy yourself as a bit of an adventurer?
Head to Experience Adventure supported by Honda, Royal Enfield, Triumph and Yamaha. Designed to introduce riders to adventure riding, once kitted up in clothing provided by Bell Helmets and Fly, you’ll be taught about bike set-up, body positioning and balance across a number of testing terrains.
You can also have a go at trials riding in the ACU Try Trials zone. Once again the team will kit you out in all the safety gear and you’ll be guided by an ACU-certified instructor in a free 15-minute session. Then you can sit back and watch the pros demonstrate how it should be done!
If you’re interested in visiting – and why wouldn’t you? – our UK colleagues have produced a handy ready-reckoner of what’s on, who’s on and for how much here.
If you are Birmingham-bound, don’t forget to drop by the Principal Insurance stand 2A15 in Hall 2. The posse will be showing off some magnificent machines and have a truckload of freebies to share with visitors.
Hope to see you there!
